The definition of Online learning and influence

For me, online learning is a very convenient and flexible experience. I can turn on the electronic device anytime and anywhere to study with classmates from all over the world. One thing I like most about online classes is that I can choose my own study schedule time. I am a person who likes to stay up late, so I often choose to study at night. For me, online learning has made my personal learning journey freer. I can arrange the content and study time every week by myself.

For example, I just finished an online course not long ago. This course has study materials every day. I have no way to study this course every day (because I still have other courses to study). So I chose to concentrate on studying this course’s content on Friday and Sunday because these days are free for me. Since I know my own learning ability, I can adjust my learning method according to the online class to achieve a better learning effect.

From my perspective, open educational resources are beneficial for my study. I don’t need to spend a lot of time searching for scholarly resources. I only need to input keywords and requirements to find many relevant learning resources quickly. Regarding information and privacy, to be honest, I don’t know much because I haven’t learned about the impact of personal privacy and data security in online classrooms before. Because of the Covid 19, online classes have become the teaching method of most schools today, and problems related to privacy and information security will also arise in the process. I am curious about whether the personal information I provided on the public learning website be leaked? Will my personal information be collected during my online study? After reading this week’s reading, I realized that someone now designs the most suitable study plan for students based on the students’ learning style. In this process, there are inevitably questions about the collection of information and privacy boundaries. The education system must include rules and regulations for correct student data management and prevent personal data from being leaked. I hope I can learn more information about online courses in this course, which will benefit my learning journal in the future. And I also hope that I can correctly understand how to avoid the leakage of personal privacy on the Internet and have more data security awareness.

Hello Huatian,

I experienced the same thing as you when I begin taking online classes. I couldn’t handle it well by myself. I have to get used to studying alone. And now I have learned many new ways to have an efficient study journal. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

Hi Chloe,

I agree with what you said, “Personally, I have found online learning to be flexible, accessible, and cost-saving.” Since start taking online class, I can choose to arrange the study time and content myself. And I only need a computer to study at any time and anywhere. What I like most about online classes are the open educational resources. In the past, people might need to go to the library to look up materials, but now we only need to open the computer to search for keywords and we can immediately get many related educational resources. This is undoubtedly a good thing for us and makes our study more convenient.

Hi Haoxian,

I really like the three types of interactions you mentioned. Because I think these three interactions accurately describe the content of our online classes. The self-regulated learning you mentioned is very important. The online class is always questioned that the quality of the course is not as good as the face-to-face class. I think that many students are not conscious and unwilling to learn actively during the online class, so the learning effect is poor. Therefore, the most important part of online learning lies in the students themselves. As long as they are willing to work hard, they will definitely get the results they want.
